Thank you for all your sweet comments on my pictures a couple of days ago. Ya'll sure do know how to make a girl feel good! :)
Remember these blocks?
Of course you do! You remember everything I make! Well, I have a little tutorial for you. Mind you, this is my first ever tutorial so please be kind to me if they don't make sense. Just let me know and I'll reword it for you.
Supplies:
6-12 different scrap fabrics
Solid fabric for border
Sewing Machine
Sew with a 1/4" seam allowance.
Cut your scraps in 1.5"X12". You'll need 12 strips all together.
Sew your strips together and then press your seams open.
Turn your square til it makes a diamond. I used an 8" square piece of paper to help me cut.
Cut off the corners of the square.
G peeking in to see if my square is good and straight. And also to ask me if I'd get him a cookie.
Your square should now look like this.
Take your solid fabric and cut two strips at 3"X8" and then 3"X12.5". Take the 3"X8" strips and sew them on each side of the square and then trim it down to 12.5". Make sure you cut evenly on both sides unless you'd like your block to be off center. Take the last two strips and sew them on the other sides of the square and trim down to 12.5". Now you should have this.
Tah dah! B-E-A-U-tiful! (name that movie!)
I hope you understand my instructions! Happy sewing!

Anna Joy

ReplyDeleteif you don't mind, that is...
I'm in love with the colors of this block - so fresh!
ReplyDeleteClear as can be. That would make a great do. Good Stitches block. Simple and with built-in sashing...
ReplyDeleteThank you for this tutorial! Name that movie? Bruce Almighty, of course! :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone! Of course you can use this block for anything you like! It's meant to be shared. :)
ReplyDeleteRight on, Martha, Bruce Almighty all the way!
Nice tutorial....what are you going to do with the corners that you cut off of the pieced block?
ReplyDeleteIf you sew 4 of them together, you'd end up with another type of block....hate to think that you'd just throw them away.
